Here’s a sneak peak at the recruitment timeline…

If your application meets the minimum entry requirements, you will be invited to undertake the first stage of testing on Monday 22^nd April.

The testing is being held at the Bridge Innovation Centre, Pembroke Dock – please check your emails (including your junk folder) for further details.

If you are successful at the first testing stage, you will be invited to undertake a Cobra Assessment on one of the following dates:

• Thursday 25^th April
• Monday 29^th April
• Wednesday 1^st May
• Thursday 2^nd May

 The Cobra assessments are being held at the Popton Fort training room at Pembroke Refinery.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 20^th May 2024.

We have been passionate about our apprenticeships at Pembroke Refinery since 1977! For over 45 years , we have continually strived to build and improve our apprentice experience and here is your opportunity to be part of the class of 2024.

 

What does the commitment look like for you?

An apprenticeship at Valero Pembroke Refinery will require you to achieve academic (BTEC) and vocational (NVQ) qualifications at or above level 3 over four years.

Starting in September 2024 with that thirst for new knowledge, your first year will be full time at Pembrokeshire College. You will be taught a broad range of engineering topics relevant to the refinery, this includes practical and academic performance criteria.

During the second and third year this academic learning continues on a day-release basis. The remainder of your time will be learning here on site. We expect you to specialise in a discipline as you experience continual on the job learning. Our specialist areas are spread across the refinery and include mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, operations, and technical drawing opportunities.

You will be an individual who is keen to learn and get on – demonstrating a drive to develop. So you can expect to be continuously assessed throughout your apprenticeship programme via observations, assignments, on the job reports, performance observations, examinations and further training at the refinery. 

Returning for 2024: IT Apprenticeship is now open!

Starting in September 2024 with that thirst for new knowledge, your first year will be full time at Pembrokeshire College. You will be taught a broad range of IT topics relevant to the refinery, this includes practical and academic performance criteria.

During the second, third and fourth year this academic learning continues on a day-release basis. The remainder of your time will be learning here on site. With an expert Mentor you will rotate around the business area gaining an excellent grounding. You will spend time with our Customer Support team, who are split across London and Pembroke. They have the responsibility of front line technical support for the entire company, dealing with US, Mexico, Peru, Canada and more locally with the UK and Ireland. 

There is always something happening and always something to learn. You will be an individual who enjoys working with others, is keen to learn and get on – demonstrating a drive to develop.

You should expect to be continuously assessed throughout your apprenticeship programme via observations, assignments, on the job reports, performance observations, examinations and further training at the refinery.
